Getting There:
By Air: The nearest airport to Karakol is Issyk-Kul International Airport in Tamchy. You would need to arrange a taxi or a minibus (known locally as a "marshrutka") to take you the remaining 150 km to Karakol.
By Car: If you're renting a car, you can drive to Karakol from Bishkek. The journey is about 6 hours long and takes you through some scenic routes including the picturesque Boom Gorge.
By Bus: Regular buses and minibuses run from Bishkek's bus station to Karakol. It is an affordable and commonly used means of transport, but be prepared for a full day's journey with stops.
