Jakhu Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to the Hindu deity Hanuman, located at the highest peak of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, the Jakhu Hill, which is at an altitude of 2455 meters above sea level. The temple is surrounded by thick forests of deodar trees and offers a panoramic view of the Shivalik Ranges and the nearby town of Sanjauli. It is said that this temple holds the footprints of Lord Hanuman. According to the Ramayana, this is the place where Hanuman took rest while searching for the Sanjivini Booti to revive Lakshmana. A giant 108 feet tall statue of Hanuman is situated at the site and is visible from most parts of Shimla. Devotees and tourists must either trek for approximately 30 minutes from the ridge or can opt for a ropeway ride to reach the temple. The pathway is steep and is filled with numerous monkeys, which are considered to be the disciples of Lord Hanuman.
