How to Reach Jebel Rum

Embark on an adventure to the majestic Jebel Rum, situated in the heart of the enchanting Wadi Rum desert in Jordan. Here's how you can get there:

By Air

International travelers can fly into Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) in Amman, which is the closest major airport. From Amisit arrives in the desert destination:

  1. Car Rentals: Rent a car from the airport or downtown Amman. The drive to Wadi Rum takes approximately 4 hours.
  2. Taxi Services: Hire a taxi directly to Wadi Rum. It is advisable to negotiate the price beforehand.
  3. Public Transportation: Buses or minibusses are available from Amman to Wadi Rum, with a possible change in Aqaba or Petra.

By Road

Wadi Rum is well-connected by roads, and it is possible to drive from major Jordanian cities:

  • From Aqaba: Approximately 1 hour drive.
  • From Petra: Approximately 2 hours drive.
  • From Amman: Approximately 4 hours drive.

Guided Tours

Many tourists opt for guided tours from Amman, Petra, or Aqaba, which include transportation and can also include overnight camping.

Arriving in Wadi Rum Village

Once you arrive in Wadi Rum Village, which is the gateway to Jebel Rum and the protected area, you will need to register at the Visitor Center. From there, you can arrange a 4x4 vehicle, camel tours, or guides to take you on your adventure to Jebel Rum.

Important Note

It is highly recommended to arrange your visit through a registered Wadi Rum tour operator, especially if you wish to climb Jebel Rum, as the terrain requires experienced guidance.
