Jeita Grotto, one of Lebanon's most stunning natural wonders, is located approximately 18 km north of Beirut in the Valley of Nahr al-Kalb (Dog River). Here's how you can reach this majestic destination:

By Car:

  • If you are coming from Beirut, take the coastal road heading north towards Jounieh.
  • Continue past Jounieh up the mountain towards Harissa until you reach the signposts for Jeita.
  • Follow the directions; Jeita Grotto is well-signposted from the highway and is a short drive from the main road.

By Public Transport:

  • Buses run regularly from Beirut's Dawra, Dora, and other major bus stations towards Jeita. Ensure the bus passes by Jeita and ask the driver beforehand.
  • Once at the Jeita roundabout, you can take a taxi to the grotto's entrance as it is a few kilometers away from the drop-off point.

Guided Tours:

  • Many travel agencies in Beirut offer guided tours to Jeita Grotto, which usually include transportation.
  • This can be a convenient option as it often combines other attractions in the area.

Once at the grotto, you will purchase tickets for the internal shuttle that will take you from the lower grotto to the upper grotto. The lower section can be explored by boat when water levels permit, and the upper grotto by foot along a strategically lit walkway that showcases the cave's formations. Remember to check the visiting hours before planning your trip as they change according to the season. Also, photography is not allowed inside the caves.
