The Kabuli Bagh Mosque is a historical mosque located in Panipat, Haryana, India. It was built by the first Mughal Emperor Babur in 1527 after his victory over Sultan Ibrahim Lodi in the Battle of Panipat. The mosque is named 'Kabuli Bagh' to commemorate Babur's wife, Mussammat Kabuli begum. This mosque stands as an excellent example of the amalgamation of Indian and Islamic architecture. Constructed with red sandstone, the mosque complex also includes a 'Char Chaman Tank', a masonry platform called 'Chabutra' and a garden laid out in the Charbagh style, which denotes the Islamic concept of paradise. The mosque is adorned with intricate carvings and Quranic inscriptions, displaying the artistic prowess of the craftsmen of the time. It also served as a sanctuary for Babur's army and to offer prayers. Over the centuries, despite suffering damages during various battles and natural calamities, the mosque has been restored several times and continues to stand as a symbol of the rich historical past of the region.
