Best Time to Visit Kaesong Koryo Insam Factory

Visiting the Kaesong Koryo Insam Factory allows a glimpse into the production of one of North Korea's most famous exports—Korean Ginseng, known as 'Insam'. The most ideal time to visit the factory falls during the spring season, from April to June. During this period, the weather in Kaesong is generally mild, and the temperatures are comfortable for travel. The spring season also marks the starting point of ginseng cultivation, offering visitors the chance to see the initial stages of ginseng processing. Additionally, the pleasant climate makes it easier to tour other historical and cultural attractions in Kaesong.

The autumn months, from September to early November, also offer a favorable time for a visit. The weather during this period is cool and dry, providing a comfortable setting for exploring the region. Touring the Insam Factory in autumn might coincide with the ginseng harvest time, allowing visitors to witness the complete cycle from farm to product. However, travelers should be mindful of the restricted access to North Korea and check for any travel advisories or limitations before planning their visit, as the situation can vary greatly with little notice.
