Kanger Ghati National Park, located in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, India, is a biodiversity hotspot renowned for its unique wildlife and picturesque landscapes. Established in 1982, this park spreads over an area of approximately 200 square kilometers. The terrain is rugged with hilly topography, deep gorges, winding streams, and subterranean limestone caves like Kotumsar Cave and Kailash Gufa. It is named after the Kanger River, which flows through its length. The park is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including the Bastar hill myna, the state bird of Chhattisgarh, and the elusive leopard. Mixed deciduous forests dominate the region, with a canopy that shelters barking deer, jackals, and sloth bears. Tribal communities like Gond, Muria, and Bhatra, who are integral to the region's cultural fabric, inhabit the fringes of the park. The park is also noted for its ethnobotanical importance, with many plants used by indigenous people for medicinal purposes.
