Kotumsar Cave, located near the small town of Jagdalpur in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, is one of the most popular cave attractions in India. Formed from limestone, the cave is renowned for its geological formations, including stalactites and stalagmites that have taken shape over millions of years. It is considered one of the longest naturally formed underground caves in the world. Situated at a depth of about 35 meters below ground level, the cave stretches for approximately 1370 meters. The Kotumsar Cave has been known to the local tribes for centuries and holds great ecological significance because of its unique ecosystem, housing a variety of endemic species of plants and fauna, some of which are adapted to life in complete darkness. Species such as blind fish can be found in the underground stream that flows through the cave. The cave has several chambers and narrow passages that make exploring it a thrilling experience. However, for conservation reasons and tourists' safety, only a part of the cave is open to visitors.
