Kargah Buddha is an archaeological site located about 10 kilometers from Gilgit, in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The site is famed for its large carved Buddha figure ensconced in a rock cliff, believed to be carved in the 7th century. This ancient sculpture stands as a relic of the times when Buddhism was predominant in the region. The carving, which measures approximately 50 feet in height, shows Buddha standing in a blessing pose. The statue overlooks the Kargah Valley with its back to the Rock. The area around Kargah Buddha is serene, providing a picturesque view of the valley below, making it a popular destination for both tourists and pilgrims.
