Best Time To Visit Khazali Canyon (Wadi Rum) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Khazi Canyon, Wadi Rum

Visiting Khazali Canyon in Wadi Rum is a magical and timeless experience, with the best time to go often considered to be in either the spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November). During these seasons, the temperatures are more temperate, facilitating exploration of the canyon's ancient petroglyphs and inscriptions without the extreme heat of the summer months. Spring brings a burst of life to the desert, with occasional wildflowers dotting the landscape, making for stunning photographs and pleasant trekking conditions. Likewise, autumn offers cooler weather that is perfect for hiking and enjoying the vast, serene desert vistas without the discomfort of sweltering temperatures.

The summer months from June to August are often exceedingly hot in Wadi Rum and generally not recommended for visitors who are unaccustomed to high desert temperatures, which can soar above 40°C (104°F). Conversely, the winter months from December to February can be quite cold, especially at night, with temperatures sometimes dropping below freezing. While winter days can still be sunny and suitable for daytime exploration, visitors should be prepared with warm clothing and suitable gear if planning to stay overnight. Regardless of the season, it's essential to respect the desert environment and always ensure you have sufficient water and sun protection during your visit to Khazali Canyon.
