Koh Trong Island Tourism

Koh Trong Island is a serene riverine island situated in the middle of the Mekong River, just opposite the bustling town of Kratie in Cambodia. This lush island offers visitors a genuine slice of Cambodian rural life. Measuring approximately 9 kilometers long and 3 kilometers wide, the island’s landscape is characterized by its verdant orchards, traditional Khmer wooden houses, and small pagodas that dot the landscape. Accessible via a short ferry ride from Kratie, Koh Trong is best explored by bicycle or on foot, allowing visitors to enjoy its quiet paths under the shade of palm trees and fruit plantations. The community here lives a simple life, with agriculture and fruit cultivation as their primary livelihoods, including the famous Jampay fruit, similar to pomelo. The island has a dedicated community-based tourism project that promotes sustainability and conservation. This includes tree planting initiatives to enhance the island's greenery. Tourists can participate in local activities, savor fresh tropical fruit, and immerse themselves in the tranquil routine of island life. The island also features a floating village on the southern tip and a Vietnamese floating village on the northern side, providing a unique cultural experience.
