The Korean Folk Village is a living museum that replicates traditional Korean life from the late Joseon period. Located in Yongin, a suburb of Suwon, it occupies a vast area of about 243 acres and showcases carefully reconstructed traditional Korean houses called 'hanok,' providing an immersive experience into Korean culture and history. This open-air folk museum exhibits over 260 traditional dwellings and items from different regions of Korea. Visitors can watch numerous artisans practicing their crafts, including blacksmiths, potters, weavers, and other trades. Beyond the craft demonstrations, the village also hosts cultural performances such as traditional dances, equestrian shows, and seasonal festivals. Within the village, there are model farms, ancient government offices, and a functioning water mill, offering visitors a glimpse into the daily life of past centuries. The Folk Village also has a recreated Joseon-era village street, complete with shops and vendors selling traditional Korean food and souvenirs. It is a popular destination for tourists and locals, especially students looking to learn more about their heritage.
