KunyaUrgench, also known as Konya-Urgench or Old Urgench, is a historic urban settlement located in the Dashoguz region of Turkmenistan. It is situated on the left bank of the Amu Darya River. KunyaUrgench is famed for its series of remarkable architectural monuments that span a period from the 11th to the 16th centuries, during which this area was a flourishing center of the Islamic world. Notable structures include the Turabeg Khanym Complex, Sultan Tekesh Mausoleum, the Kutlug Timur Minaret, which is one of the tallest minarets in Central Asia, and the Kyrkmolla Hill, a fortress and pilgrimage site. These landmarks reflect the city's significance as the capital of the Khwarezm region, a major trade center along the Silk Road.
