Kutlug Timur Minaret, located in the ancient city of Konye-Urgench in the Dashoguz Region of Turkmenistan, is one of the most striking historical landmarks of the region. The minaret dates back to the 11th-12th centuries, though much of its construction was completed in the 14th century. With a height of around 60 meters, it was once one of the tallest minarets in Central Asia. The structure is a testament to the architectural and engineering feats of the Islamic Golden Age. The tower is adorned with decorative brickwork and Kufic inscriptions, characteristic of the period and region. The Kutlug Timur Minaret is part of the historical site of Old Urgench, which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area was once a flourishing trade center and a focal point for the spread of Islam throughout the region. The minaret has survived the test of time, including the Mongol invasions, albeit with restorations over the centuries. It now stands as a solitary reminder of the grandeur of the bygone Khwarezm Empire.
