How To Reach Kuredu

Traveling to Kuredu, Maldives

Kuredu is a picturesque island located in the Lhaviyani Atoll of the Maldives, known for its sparkling waters and luxurious resorts. To reach Kuredu, travelers will need to undertake a two-step journey: first flying to the main international airport in the Maldives and then transferring to the island itself.

Step 1: Flying to Velana International Airport (Malé)

  • Book a flight to Velana International Airport (MLE), also known as Malé International Airport, which is the main international gateway to the Maldives.
  • The airport is well connected with direct and connecting flights from major global cities.
  • Major airlines servicing this airport include Emirates, Qatar Airways, China Southern Airlines, SriLankan Airlines, and Turkish Airlines.

Step 2: Transfer to Kuredu

  • Upon arrival at Malé, you will have two main options to transfer to Kuredu Island:
  • Seaplane Transfer:
    • Seaplane transfers are arranged by the resort and typically take around 35 minutes.
    • Travelers are advised to provide their international flight details to the resort well in advance to arrange the seaplane transfer.
    • Note that seaplane transfers only operate during daylight hours, usually between 6:00 AM and 3:30 PM.
  • Speedboat Transfer:
    • Although less common than seaplanes, speedboat transfers can be an option depending on the season and weather conditions.
    • Speedboat transfers take longer than seaplanes and can be subject to sea conditions.
  • Travelers should check with their chosen resort for the most appropriate and available transfer options.

Additional Tips:

  • Please ensure that your international flight arrives in Malé before the last seaplane departure for a smooth transfer to Kuredu Island.
  • Guests must provide their flight details to the resort at least 7 days prior to their arrival.
  • Consider arranging for travel insurance that covers transfer delays and cancellations, especially due to weather.
  • Keep in mind that baggage allowance for seaplane transfers can be limited, usually around 20kg for checked luggage and 5kg for hand luggage per person.
