Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary is an exquisite natural haven located in the northeastern Indian state of Mizoram, near the town of Champhai. It spans a significant portion of the Eastern Himalayan biodiversity hotspot and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Established with the objective of preserving the region's delicate ecosystem, Lengteng is one of the two highest peaks in Mizoram, making it a place of mesmerizing scenic beauty. The sanctuary is a vital refuge for several endangered species, including the rare Mrs. Hume's pheasant, the state bird of Mizoram, and other wildlife like the leopard, sambar, and barking deer. Due to its unique geographical features, the region supports a mix of tropical, sub-tropical, and temperate forests that house a magnificent array of orchids and rhododendrons. Nature enthusiasts can explore the thickets and enjoy bird-watching, treks, and the panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Its remote location also ensures a peaceful environment, largely untouched by human activities.
