Type of destination: Island
Ideal visit duration: 2-4 days
Little Andaman Island, located south of the South Andaman Island within the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, is an offbeat destination offering unspoiled natural beauty. It's the fourth-largest of the Andaman Islands and is famed for its rainforest, stunning coastline, and unique indigenous culture. Hut Bay is a primary settlement on the island and serves as the entry point for most travelers, with a small ship port and anchorage. The island is an ecological haven, with several rare species of marine turtle nesting on its beaches, particularly at South Bay and West Bay. It is also home to the Onge tribe, one of the oldest tribes of India, though contact with them is restricted. The White Surf waterfall and the break in the coral reef known as the Butler Bay are popular tourist spots. Little Andaman provides opportunities for surfing, boating, snorkeling, and trekking, making it perfect for adventure enthusiasts.
