Welcome to Maafushi, Maldives

How to Reach Maafushi

Maafushi Island is one of the inhabited islands of the Kaafu Atoll and a popular destination in the Maldives for an authentic experience. Here's how you can reach this tropical paradise:

Step 1: Arrive at Velana International Airport (Male)

Your journey to Maafushi will typically start at Velana International Airport (MLE), located on Hulhulé Island near the capital city of Male. Most international flights will arrive here.

Step 2: Choose Your Mode of Transport to Maafushi

• Public Ferry: The most economical way to get to Maafushi is by taking the public ferry from Male. It takes about 90 minutes and operates on a schedule, usually not available on Fridays. Ensure to check the latest schedule as it can change.
• Speedboat: Several speedboat services run from Male to Maafushi. They offer a faster transfer compared to the public ferry, taking about 35 minutes. Speedboat services may have several trips per day, and advanced booking is recommended.
• Private Hire: For a more personal and flexible journey, you can hire a private speedboat. This is especially convenient for those not wanting to wait or align with the public ferry or speedboat schedule and can be arranged through your accommodation or a private company.

Travel Tips:

When planning your transfer to Maafushi, consider your arrival time in Male to ensure there is a corresponding ferry or speedboat. Late arrivals might require an overnight stay in Male or Hulhumalé. Furthermore, always confirm the transportation schedule a few days before your trip as timings can vary due to weather conditions or during Ramadan.

Enjoy Your Stay in Paradise!

Once you arrive in Maafushi, you'll find a variety of guesthouses, restaurants, and activities to enjoy on this beautiful island. Diving, snorkeling, and beach relaxation are just a few things to look forward to!
