Best Time To Visit Mausoleum Of King Tangun (Hamhung) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit the Mausoleum of King Tangun in Hamhung, North Korea

Spring (April to June) is generally considered the best time to visit the Mausoleum of King Tangun in Hamhung. During these months, the weather is pleasantly mild, and the beauty of the surrounding landscape is enhanced by the blooming flowers and greenery. Spring is an ideal time for outdoor activities and sightseeing, as the temperatures hover around 10-22°C (50-72°F), which is comfortable for most travelers. Additionally, this period avoids the harsh cold of the winter months and the humid, rainy conditions often experienced during the monsoon season in late summer.

Another suitable period is during the early fall, specifically September to early October, when the weather remains warm without the extremities of summer heat. This time of the year also offers the advantage of witnessing North Korea's striking autumn foliage, providing a picturesque backdrop to the historical and cultural significance of the mausoleum. Visitors should take note, however, that the availability of travel options and the ability to visit the site can be restricted due to North Korea's tight tourism regulations, making it essential to plan well in advance and coordinate with authorized tour operators.
