The Mekong Turtle Conservation Center (MTCC) is located in the Sambor district of Kratie Province which is approximately 35 kilometers from Kratie town. Here's how you can reach this wonderful conservation center dedicated to preserving the endangered Cantor's giant softshell turtle.
From Phnom Penh: Catch a bus or a minibus heading to Kratie town. The journey takes about 6-7 hours. Once you arrive in Kratie, you can hire a tuk-tuk or a motorbike taxi to take you directly to the MTCC.
Car Rental: It's possible to rent a car with a driver in Phnom Penh or Kratie town for a more comfortable trip to the center. Make sure to agree on a price before starting your journey.
If you're feeling adventurous, rent a bicycle or motorbike in Kratie and enjoy a scenic ride along the Mekong River to the MTCC. The road is relatively flat and the trip is an opportunity to see the beautiful Cambodian countryside.
Look for the large sign indicating the entrance to the MTCC. The center is part of the Wat Sorsor Moi Roi pagoda complex. Entry to the center is often by donation, which helps to support turtle conservation efforts.
