The city of Mesaieed, known primarily for its industrial significance, does not have an extensive culinary history in itself, but shares much with the traditional cuisine of Qatar. Qatari cuisine is strongly influenced by Iranian and Indian culinary traditions, as well as by Bedouin culture. Pearling and fishing were traditional mainstays of the economy, and as a result, the food culture is heavy on seafood. It also integrates a variety of spices and flavors that reflect its historical trade links. As an industrial center, Mesaieed's food landscape is also shaped by its diverse expatriate population, which brings an array of international cuisines and flavors to the area.
