Best Time To Visit Myoryuji Temple (Kanazawa) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Myoryuji Temple, Kanazawa, Japan

One of the optimal times to visit Myoryuji Temple, commonly known as the Ninja Temple, in Kanazawa, Japan, is during the spring, particularly between late March and early May. The pleasant temperatures during this season provide a comfortable experience for exploring the temple's complex and intriguing architecture. Spring also brings the celebrated cherry blossom season, during which Kanazawa’s parks and gardens, including Kenrokuen which is nearby, are filled with blooming sakura trees. These spectacular blossoms create a picturesque backdrop for your visit to the temple. It's important to note that spring, especially the cherry blossom period, is a popular travel time, so booking tours in advance is highly recommended to secure your spot on a guided tour of Myoryuji Temple, as visitor numbers are strictly controlled to preserve the tranquility and integrity of the historic site.

Alternatively, autumn, specifically between October and November, is another excellent time for visiting. During these months, the region often enjoys mild weather and less rainfall, which makes for a pleasant trip. Additionally, Kanazawa is famous for its *koyo* or autumn leaves viewing. Trees around the city, and possibly in the vicinity of Myoryuji Temple, turn vivid hues of gold, red, and yellow, offering a breathtaking visual treat. Autumn also sees fewer tourists compared to the cherry blossom season, which can allow for a more relaxed visit to the Ninja Temple. Despite this, it is still important to reserve your spot early for guided tours as they can fill up quickly due to the popularity of the temple’s unique defensive and deceptive design features, which intrigue both history buffs and culture enthusiasts alike.
