By Air:

The nearest airport to Nagarkot is the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandi. Upon arrival at the airport, you can opt for various modes of transportation to reach Nagarkot.

  • Taxi: You can easily hire a taxi from the airport which will take you directly to Nagarkot. The journey by taxi takes around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on the traffic.
  • Pre-Booked Hotel Shuttle: Some hotels in Nagarkot might offer shuttle services from the airport. You should confirm with your hotel prior to your arrival.

By Road:

If you are traveling from Kathmandu, you have the following options:

  • Local Bus: Local buses to Nagarkot leave regularly from Bhaktapur Bus Station. Keep in notice it might be a less comfortable option compared to a taxi or hiring a car, but it is more economical.
  • Hired Car: Renting a car with a driver for a day is a comfortable and convenient way to get to Nagarkot and also allows you the flexibility to stop on the way for sightseeing.
  • Motorbike: For a more adventurous trip, you can rent a motorbike in Kathmandu and drive to Nagarkot. Make sure you are comfortable with mountain driving.

By Trek:

If you are looking for a more adventurous approach, you can trek to Nagarkot. There are well-defined trails from Bhaktapur or Changu Narayan Temple that lead to Nagarkot. The trek can take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours depending on your pace and the route chosen.

Travel Tips:

  • The road to Nagarkot can be narrow and winding, especially the last stretch. Be prepared for a hillside drive.
  • If you're traveling during monsoon season, always check the weather conditions as landslides can occur.
  • Make sure your vehicle is in good condition and the driver is experienced in hilly terrains, if you're hiring a car or motorbike.
  • Carry cash as ATM facilities might be limited in Nagarkot.
