Nandikonda, also known as Vijayapuri, is a small village located in the Nalgonda district of Telangana, India. This village is historically significant and is situated on the banks of the Krishna River. It was an important Buddhist site in ancient times and was once the site of a Buddhist University during the Ikshvaku dynasty. The area is known for the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, one of the largest dams in India, named after the Buddhist monk, Acharya Nagarjuna, who preached here. This massive irrigation project has a hydroelectric plant that generates a substantial amount of electricity for the region.
