The Rise of Naypyidaw as a Tourist Destination

Although Naypyidaw only officially replaced Yangon as the capital of Myanmar in 2005, it has steadily been on the rise as an off-the-beaten-path tourist destination. Initially designed as an administrative capital, it features wide boulevards and large-scale monuments, among which the Naypyidaw Planetarium stands out as a beacon of scientific discovery.

History of Tourism at the Naypyidaw Planetarium

The concept of tourism revolving around a planetarium in Myanmar is relatively new, given the country's late opening up to the world due to its political past. Interest in space and astronomy was not a traditional tourism driver in Myanmar's rich cultural heritage tourism industry. However, as the nation evolves, so does its tourism portfolio, with the Naypyidaw Planetarium playing a significant role in diversifying the attractions on offer.
