Oedolgae Rock is one of the most iconic natural landmarks on Jeju Island, South Korea. Situated on the southern coast near Seogwipo, Oedolgae, or 'Lonely Rock,' stands majestically surrounded by the clear blue waters of the Yellow Sea. This impressive rock formation rises approximately 20 meters above the sea and is part of the Olle walking paths, which are popular among trekkers exploring the island's unique scenic beauty. The rock's name, which means 'lonely pillar,' is derived from its solitary appearance. According to local legend, Oedolgae was once part of a mountain that became submerged under the sea. It is composed primarily of volcanic basalt, showcasing Jeju's geologic history, and is surrounded by lush forests and other rock formations. The site offers breathtaking views and is particularly stunning at sunset when the rock casts a long shadow over the water. Oedolgae Rock was also a filming location for the famous Korean TV drama 'Dae Jang Geum.'
