Palamau Tiger Reserve, nestled in the Betla region of Jharkhand, India, spans an area of approximately 1,014 square kilometers. It was established in the early 1970s under Project Tiger, which aims at conserving the tigers in India. The reserve is part of the larger Palamau Wildlife Sanctuary and is one of the earliest tiger reserves in the country. This reserve boasts a rugged terrain with steep hills, dense tropical forests, and cascading waterfalls. The North Koel River and its tributaries traverse the sanctuary adding to the reserve’s scenic beauty. The forest cover consists mainly of sal trees, mixed with bamboo groves, which provide a perfect habitat for wildlife. The reserve is home to a variety of fauna including elephants, leopards, gaur, and of course, tigers, although their numbers have dwindled. It also has several historical attractions, including the Betla Fort, which overlooks the reserve. Palamau is recognized for its rich biodiversity and is an important ecological area for wildlife research, environmental conservation, and eco-tourism.

Jungle Safari
The photos attached are of the Betla Forest Tourist Lodge. They have a tree house with two rooms. Rates are reasonable. Animals around give a true jungle feel. Worth visiting if it's a pleasure trip.
