Paragyi Pagoda Tourism

The Paragyi Pagoda is an iconic Buddhist temple situated in Sittwe, the capital city of the Rakhine State in Myanmar (Burma). This revered pagoda is recognized by its splendid golden stupa, which shimmers under the Southeast Asian sun. The temple serves as a spiritual center for the local Buddhist community and attracts pilgrims and tourists from various parts of the world. Although not as famous as Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon or Ananda Temple in Bagan, Paragyi Pagoda boasts its unique charm and peaceful ambiance. The complex showcases traditional Burmese architecture with intricately decorated hti (umbrella-like structure) that tops the stupa, multi-tiered roofs, and beautiful murals depicting scenes from Buddha’s life and Jataka tales. Visitors are drawn to its tranquil settings for worship, reflection, and to observe the local religious practices. The pagoda is surrounded by other smaller shrines and statues, including impressive Buddha images that contribute to the site's spiritual significance. Its location in Sittwe also allows travelers the opportunity to explore the nearby attractions and experience the town’s local culture and cuisine.
