The Emergence of Patriata as a Tourist Haven
The history of tourism in Patriata can be traced back to the era of British colonial rule in the Indian subcontinent. Murree, established by the British as a hill station, was intended to serve as a cool summer retreat for British officials and troops seeking respite from the hot plains. Over time, Murree grew in popularity, and with the onset of the 20th century, its neighboring areas, including Patriata, began catching the attention of tourists seeking peace and exclusivity.
In the latter part of the 20th century, the Government of Pakistan, recognizing the area's potential, developed Patriata into a modern tourist spot, coining the name "New Murree". Infrastructure development, including the construction of chair lifts and cable cars, has enhanced its accessibility and appeal, making it a significant attraction for both domestic and international visitors.
