Getting to Phobjikha Valley

By Air

Paro International Airport (PBH) is the only international airport in Bhamutan. Most visitors will need to fly here first. Airlines that operate flights to Paro include Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines. From Paro, travelers can hire a taxi or book a tour operator to transport them to Phobjikha Valley.

By Road

Once in Bhutan, you can travel by car to Phobjikha Valley. The journey is approximately 6 hours (143 kilometers) from Paro and about 5 hours (135 kilometers) from the capital, Thimphu. From Punakha, it is roughly a 3-hour drive (70 kilometers). The road conditions can vary, so ensure you hire a reliable vehicle and experienced driver.

By Public Transport

Alternatively, public buses and shared taxis run from major Bhutanese towns like Thimphu and Punakha to Wangdue Phodrang district. However, public transport options might not take you directly into the Phobjikha Valley, and services can be infrequent, so plan accordingly.
