Best Time To Visit Pipha Island (Rason) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Pipha Island, Rason, North Korea

Due to its location in the northern part of the Korean Peninsula, Pipha Island experiences a temperate climate with a clear distinction between the four seasons. If you're considering a visit to this secluded island, the ideal time to plan your trip is during the summer months, which are from June through to early September. During this time, the weather is generally warm but not excessively hot, with temperatures averaging around 20°C (68°F) to 25°C (77°F). The summer season is perfect for exploring the natural beauty of Pipha Island, as the flora and fauna are in full bloom, and the days are the longest, providing ample daylight for various outdoor activities.

However, tourists should note that the months of July and August can also bring occasional rainfall, which could potentially disrupt travel plans or outdoor excursions. Nevertheless, these warmer months remain the most popular among visitors for beach activities and sightseeing. On the other hand, those looking for a quieter experience might favor the shoulder season, specifically the month of May or late September, when the temperatures are mild, and the island sees fewer tourists. Regardless of when you decide to visit, it is essential to note that traveling to North Korea requires careful planning and adherence to local regulations, so ensure arrangements are made well in advance through an approved tour operator.
