Rustavi is an important industrial city in the country of Georgia, situated about 25 kilometers southeast of the capital, Tbilisi. Established as an ancient town, Rustavi was revived in the Soviet era as a major center for steel production. After the fall of the Soviet Union, the city faced economic decline but has been undergoing a revival in recent years. The city is divided into two main parts: Old Rustavi and New Rustavi. While Old Rustavi has historical significance, New Rustavi is characterized by Soviet-era architecture and urban planning. The city is strategically placed near the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers and is integral to the region's metal industry. Cultural attractions in Rustavi include the Rustavi Metallurgical Plant, one of the largest in the Caucasist, and the Rustavi International Motorpark, which hosts a variety of motor racing events and competitions. The city is also known for its cultural festivals and events and is home to many parks and public spaces that offer recreational activities for residents and visitors alike.
