Sannihit Sarovar Tourism
Type of destination: Religious Site
Ideal visit duration: 1-2 hours
Sannihit Sarovar is a sacred water reservoir situated in the holy city of Kurukshetra, Haryana, India. Believed to be the meeting point of seven sacred Saraswatis, the sarovar carries immense religious significance for Hindu devotees, who flock here to perform rituals for the salvation of ancestors, particularly during the Amavasya (new moon) day when the waters are considered to be especially sanctified. Spanning over an area of about 5 acres, according to the Mahabharata, this site was the abode of Lord Vishnu during the great battle of Mahabharata, and taking a dip here is equated to merit of performing an Ashvamedha Yajna. The sarovar is flanked by temples dedicated to various Hindu deities like Lord Shiva, Dhruva Narayan, Sita Ram, Hanuman, and Durga, adding to its religious prominence. The architecture of the ghats and surrounding temples is simple yet holds historical essence. The sarovar precincts are dotted with small shrines and offer a peaceful atmosphere. A holy dip here, especially during solar and lunar eclipses, is considered highly auspicious.

Peaceful Place
This place is mainly used by the local people to offer prayers and perform death rituals. There are a few small temples located on the banks of the sarovar.

Sannihit sarovar
It is a small pond and extremely dirty. Totally under developed. There is nothing to see out here. Basically important as people do the pind Dan for the dead. Not worth taking a bath out here. Rather ..

Visited during Sun Eclipse
People bathe in this Sarovar during Sun Eclipse because it is considered good omen . Otherwise the place is not maintained well and needs more care all the year around .
