Located in the northeastern part of South Korea, Seoraksan National Park is a renowned destination for both local and international tourists. Here is how you can reach Seoraksan National Park from Seoul.
From Seoul to Sokcho: Take an intercity bus from Dong Seoul Bus Terminal or Express Bus Terminal to Sokcho. The journey takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Buses run every 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the time of day.
From Sokcho to Seoraksan National Park: From Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal, take a local bus numbered 7 or 7-1. The local bus trip takes about 30 minutes to reach the national park entrance.
If you prefer to drive, rental cars are available in major cities. The drive from Seoul to Seoraksan National Park takes about 3 to 4 hours, depending on traffic. Take the Yeongdong Expressway directly to Sokcho and then follow signs to the national park.
Although there is no direct train to Seoraksan National Park, you can take a train to Gangneung from Seoul's Cheongnyangni Station. Upon arrival in Gangneung, take a bus or taxi to Sokcho which takes another 1 to 1.5 hours, and then transfer to a local bus to the park.
Note: The local bus schedules might change, so it's always a good idea to check the current timetable at the Sokcho bus terminal. Also, during holiday seasons or weekends, it is advisable to book your intercity bus tickets in advance to secure a seat.
