Sparrow Hills, known locally as Vorobyovy Gory, offers one of the most stunning panoramic views of Moscow, and it is located on the right bank of the Moskva River. Here are the best ways to reach this popular destination:
The most convenient way to get to Sparrow Hills is by the Moscow Metro. You will need to get on the red line (Line 1) and disembark at the ‘Vorobyovy Gory’ station. The metro station itself is a notable landmark because it is located on a bridge over the Moskva River. After exiting the station, follow the signs or the crowd heading towards the observation platform.
Driving is another viable option. If you are renting a car or taking a taxi, you can simply input "Sparrow Hills, Moscow" into the GPS. Please note that traffic in Moscow can be heavy, especially during rush hours, so allocate extra time when traveling by road.
There are also various buses and trolleybuses that serve the Sparrow Hills area. You can take buses #67, #74, #119, #144, or trolleybuses #7, #33, #49 and stop near the Moscow State University or at the observation platform.
A fun way to reach Sparrow Hills is by the cable car which runs from the Luzhniki sports complex to Sparrow Hills. You'll get a chance to enjoy a scenic ride overlooking the Moskva River and the city.
If you prefer to walk, it is possible to walk from the city center, but be prepared for a somewhat lengthy walk, which is around 7-8 km from the Kremlin. Alternatively, from the ‘Vorobyovy Gory’ metro station, it's a scenic walk with paths leading up to the observation deck.
Remember to check the weather forecast before you go as the viewing experience can be highly dependent on the weather conditions. In winter seasons, the paths might be slippery, so wear appropriate shoes.
