Best Time To Visit Sur (Oman) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Sur, Oman

The optimal period to visit Sur, a picturesque coastal town in Oman, is between October and April. During these months, the weather is pleasantly moderate, making it ideal for tourists to explore the region's natural beauty and cultural heritage without the discomfort of intense heat. Daytime temperatures typically range from a comfortable 25°C to 35°C (77°F to 95°F), and the cool sea breeze from the Arabian Sea offers a refreshing respite. This is the peak tourist season, so visitors can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as beach visits, dhow cruises, turtle watching at Ras Al Jinz, and exploring the historical maritime attractions of the city.

It is important to note that from May to September, the temperature in Sur rises significantly, often exceeding 40°C (104°F), which might not be suitable for all travelers, especially those who are not accustomed to extreme heat. Moreover, the Khareef season, which brings monsoon rains to the nearby Dhofar region, can sometimes affect Sur with sporadic rainfall and increased humidity. Thus, for a more comfortable experience with optimal conditions for sightseeing and participating in outdoor adventures like exploring the Wahiba Sands or engaging in water sports, sticking to the cooler months is highly recommended. Moreover, planning your visit during the winter season ensures you'll avoid the peak heat and enjoy Sur's attractions in the best possible climate.
