Best Time To Visit Susongchon River Park (Chongjin) In 2026 - 2027

Visit Susongchon River Park in Chongjin

The Susongchon River Park, located in the industrial city of Chongjin in North Korea, is a serene spot away from the city's bustle. When considering the best time to visit, late spring months, such as May and early June, are ideal. During this period, you can enjoy temperate weather, with average temperatures comfortably ranging between 10°C to 22°C (50°F to 72°F). This climate facilitates pleasant outdoor activities, including strolling along the riverbanks, picnicking, or simply relishing the blooming flora. Moreover, the precipitation levels are generally lower, ensuring that your visit is less likely to be hampered by rain.

Alternatively, the onset of autumn, particularly September and October, is another favorable time to visit Susongchon River Park. The weather remains mild as the heat of the summer fades, giving way to cooler days with an average temperature spectrum of around 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F). The fall season not only offers a comfortable climate but also treats visitors to the aesthetic beauty of autumn foliage. The park's landscape transforms with the rich hues of fall, turning it into a picturesque setting that's perfect for photography or a peaceful walk. Despite the political and travel restrictions typical in North Korea, planning your visit during these times can offer a sublime experience amidst an otherwise remote and less accessible region.
