The Temple of Artemis Jerash is a magnificent ancient structure located in the city of Jerash in Jordan, known for its well-preserved ruins dating back to the Roman era. As one of the most important and impressive relics of antiquity, the Temple of Artemis was dedicated to the goddess Artemis, who was highly revered in the ancient city of Gerasa, now present-day Jerash. Constructed during the reign of Emperor Antoninus Pius (138-161 AD), the temple stands on a high platform and was once approached by an elegant staircase. Although only a few of the majestic Corinthian columns are still standing, they offer a glimpse into the grandeur of the past. The site is part of the larger Jerash Archaeological Park, which showcases a wealth of Greco-Roman architecture, including colonnaded streets, theatres, and other temples. The temple's considerable size, ornate capitals, and the careful attention to architectural detail exemplify the sophistication of Roman engineering and religious devotion.
