Best Time To Visit Thorangtlang Wildlife Sanctuary (Lunglei) In 2026 - 2027

The best time to visit the Thorangtlang Wildlife Sanctuary in Lunglei, Mizoram, is during the cooler months, from November to March. During this period, the weather in Mizoram is generally mild and pleasant, making it ideal for wildlife viewing and nature walks. The monsoon season, which typically runs from May to September, is less suitable for visits due to heavy rainfall, which can lead to slippery trails and obstructed views. Furthermore, many animal species tend to hide during the rainy season, so sightings may be less frequent.

Visiting the sanctuary in the recommended months provides an opportunity to experience the rich biodiversity of the region under the best conditions. Birdwatchers, in particular, will enjoy the post-monsoon season when migratory birds arrive at the sanctuary. It's important for visitors to prepare adequately for their trip, wearing comfortable clothing and carrying essential items such as water, snacks, and binoculars. Additionally, obtaining the necessary permissions and hiring a local guide can greatly enhance the experience, offering insights into the sanctuary's flora and fauna.
