Best Time To Visit Towers Of Silence (Dakhmeh) (Yazd) In 2026 - 2027

Visiting the Towers of Silence in Yazd, Iran

When planning a visit to the Towers of Silence, also known as Dakhmeh, in Yazd, Iran, the best time to go is during the spring months of April and May, or autumn in September and October. During these periods, the weather in Yazd is mild and pleasant, with lower chances of encountering extreme heat that the region is known for, especially in the summer months. Spring offers the added benefit of the Persian New Year, known as Nowruz, which brings about a festive atmosphere throughout the country. The surrounding landscape is also more vibrant during this time, which could contribute to a more pleasant sightseeing experience at the historical site.

Visiting in the recommended seasons will allow for comfortable exploration of the ancient Zoroastrian structures, which are perched on two hills. Given the site's exposure to the elements and its elevation, it's essential to be prepared for a moderate climb and direct sunlight. Therefore, it would be wise to bring sunscreen, a hat, and water to stay hydrated. Keep in mind that Yazd's desert climate can see significant temperature drops in the evenings, so carrying layers of clothing is advisable when staying past sunset, which is also a sublime time to capture the stark beauty of the Towers against the changing sky.
