Best Time To Visit Train Ride From The Lower To The Upper Grotto (Jeita Grotto) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Jeita Grotto, Lebanon

The most favorable time to experience the train ride from the Lower to the Upper Grotto in the Jeita Grotto complex in Lebanon is during the spring and fall months, specifically April to June and September to November. During these periods, the weather is generally mild, making the journey more comfortable for visitors. Spring offers the added benefit of lush greenery and blooming flowers in the surrounding areas, enhancing the scenic beauty of the grottos. Moreover, these months are outside the peak tourist season, which usually occurs in the hot summer months, so visitors can anticipate fewer crowds and a more tranquil exploration of the caves.

It is important to note that the Jeita Grotto occasionally closes in the winter, specifically from January to February, due to maintenance and the risk of high water levels. The grottos maintain a constant and cool temperature throughout the year, making the caves pleasantly refreshing in the summer heat, when the temperatures outside are high. However, visitors in the winter need to be prepared for chillier conditions and should dress warmly. Always check the opening hours before planning your visit, as they can vary throughout the year, and be aware that the train ride and the boat tour in the Lower Grotto might be subject to weather conditions.
