UAQ National Museum, also known as Umm Al Quwain Fort, is a fortification that has stood the test of time in the heart of Umm Al Quwain, one of the seven Emirates that comprise the United Arab Emirates. The museum is housed in a fort that was once home to the ruling Al Ali family and served as a defensive stronghold for the emirate. Overlooking the old harbor and the traditional dhow building yard, the fort provides insight into the region's pearling past and its historical significance. The museum displays artefacts from nearby archaeological sites, which are remnants of the Umm Al Nar culture. Each exhibit meticulously presents the way of life of the people who have lived in this Emirate, maintaining a connection to their past. Weapons, jewellery, and pottery are among the items showcased that depict the life and times of the region through the ages, stretching from the ancient to the modern period. Visitors can explore the many rooms and courtyards and get a closer look at the traditional regional architecture.
