How to Reach W Retreat & Spa Maldives, Maldives

International Arrival

To reach the W Retreat & Spa Maldives, you must first fly into Velana International Airport (MLE), also known as Malé International Airport, which is the main international gateway into the Maldives.

Transferring to the Resort

From Velana International Airport, you have a couple of options to transfer to W Retreat & Spa:

Seaplane Transfer

The resort is located on Fesdu Island, and the most common way to reach it is by a 25-minute seaplane transfer. The seaplane transfer to W Retreat & Spa is an experience in itself, offering breathtaking views of the archipelago.
Note: Seaplane transfers only operate during daylight hours, so if your international flight arrives after 3:30 PM, you'll need to stay overnight in Malé before heading to the resort the next day.

Domestic Flight + Speedboat

Alternatively, guests can fly to the domestic airport near the resort and then complete the journey with a speedboat. This is a two-step process:

1. Take a domestic flight from Malé to the nearest airport to the resort, which is approximately a 45-minute journey.
2. Upon arrival, a speedboat will take you to the resort in about 10-15 minutes.

Make sure to provide your international flight details to the resort at least 72 hours before your arrival to facilitate a smooth transfer.

Important Considerations

• Seaplane transfers are subject to weather conditions and daylight hours. It is recommended to arrive before 3:30 PM to ensure a same-day transfer.
• Guests arriving after hours will likely need to spend a night in Malé or an airport hotel.
• The last seaplane departs for W Retreat & Spa around 5:00 PM.
• Make sure to confirm the cost of transfer as they can be quite expensive and are usually not included in the room rate.
• Baggage allowance for seaplane is generally 20 kg for checked luggage and 5 kg for handcarry, extra charges may apply for excess luggage.
• Luggage may be weighed and tagged separately and could be transported to the resort on a different flight due to weight restrictions on the seaplane.
