Best Time To Visit Yokohama Chinatown (Yokohama) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Yokohama Chinatown in Yokohama, Japan

When planning a visit to Yokohama Chinatown, one of Japan's largest Chinatowns, the best time to experience its vibrant energy is during the spring or fall seasons. The months of March to May boast pleasant temperatures, cherry blossoms, and exciting festivals like the Chinatown Spring Festival, which coincides with the Chinese New Year celebrations. Not only is the weather comfortable for exploring the bustling streets and ornate temples, but the festive mood adds a colorful touch to the area with traditional Chinese decorations, dragon dances, and various performances.

Alternatively, autumn, specifically from September to November, is equally enticing. With the September Mid-Autumn Festival and cooler, comfortable temperatures, visitors can enjoy moon-viewing parties, taste delicious mooncakes, and explore the vividly red and gold themed shops and eateries without the heavy jacket. Fall in Yokohama is also less crowded, allowing for a more relaxed experience while wandering through the maze of shops and sampling an array of Chinese cuisine, from steamed buns to peking duck.
