Day 1: NJP Rly. Stn. / IXB-Bagdogra airport to Gangtok ( 125 kms / 4 hrs./ 5500 ft )
Meet & greet on arrival at NJP Railway station / IXB- Bagdogra airport & transfer to Gangtok . Gangtok is a popular hill destination in the north eastern region of India where you can view the natural beauty dotted with lakes , mountains and specially catch a glimpse of the majestic Khanchenjunga which is the third highest peak in the world.. Gangtok is a quaint hill town steeped in Buddhist culture with colourful prayer flags waving in the cool air amidst fertile hills , silent lamas quietly mumbling sacred chants and , vividly painted pagoda roofed huts . Bhutias , Lepchas and Nepalis influence the culture and traditions of this region . Gangtok is now emerging as a main point of Tibetology. People interested in Tibetan Buddhism culture visit this town which has a number of famous monasteries and Tibetan institutions of learning. The curvaceous roads of Darjeeling are lined with colourful begonias and vibrant orchids,. You can enjoy your days exploring the magnificent scenic beauty of this expanse. Day 2: Tshomgo Lake Excursion
After breakfast, proceed to Baba Mandir ( 13,200 ft ) & Tsomgo lake (12,313 ft), a 55 kms drive which takes 2.5 hrs. this lake is located very close to Nathula pass which is the entry point to china termed as the “silk route & remains frozen for most parts of the year. Legend has it that the lamas use to forecast the future by studying the colour of the lakes waters. Enjoy the surroundings, majestic snowy peaks which feed the lake and the clean fresh air, back to Gangtok by 3 pm for a late lunch. Evening free for leisure or go shopping for Sikkimese traditional handicrafts . Overnight stay at Gangtok. (in case of land slide or any other reason tsomgo lake is closed we will provided alternate sightseeing i.e- Rumtek monestry / Namchi chardham )
Day 3: Gangtok – Lachung (116 kms / 6 hrs)
After breakfast pick up from hotel & transfer to Lachung (8,800 ft). Lachung is a town in northeast Sikkim, India. It is located in the north Sikkim district and is near the border with Tibet. Lachung is at an elevation of about 9,600 ft or 3,000 m and at the confluence of the Lachen river and Lachung rivers, tributaries of the river Teesta. the word Lachung means “small passâ€. the town is approximately 125 km from the capital Gangtok . The Indian army has a forward base in the town. Before the annexation of Tibet in 1950, Lachung was a trading post between Sikkim and Tibet, after which it was closed down. The town’s economy has been boosted by tourism in recent years as the region has been opened up by the Indian government. Tourist come from all over the world to visit the town between October and May, mostly on their way to the Yumthang valley and the Lachung monastery. Most of Lachung’s inhabitants are of Lepcha and Tibetan descent. Languages spoken here are Nepali, Lepcha and Bhutia. During winter the town is usually covered in snow. Lachung is also the base camp for rhododendron valley trek which starts from Yumthang valley and ends at Lachen valley.Lachung has been described as the “most picturesque village of Sikkim†by British explorer Joseph Dalton Hooker in his definitive, the himalayan journal (1855). skiing is conducted in Phuni near this town. Enroute visit singhik view point, seven sister water fall, naga water fall and arrive Lachung by evening. dinner at hotel. Overnight stay at Lachung.
Day 4: Lachung – Yumthang valley excursion - Gangtok
After breakfast proceed to Yumthang valley (12,000 ft. known as valley of flowers). on the way back, visit hot spring considered to have medicinal properties. back to resort .After lunch proceed to Gangtok. On the way if the weather is clear you may get to see mighty Khangchendzonga from Singhik view point. On arrival at Gangtok check-in to your hotel. Rest of the evening free for your own activities .Overnight stay at Gangtok .
Day 5: Gangtok halfday local to Darjeeling (102 kms / 6950 ft / 4 hrs. )
After breakfast Gangtok halfday local sight seen covering Flower show, Cottage industry and handicraft centre, Institute of Tibetology, Dro-dul chorten, Gunjan monestry & Bhakthang falls falls . Afternoon transfer to Darjeeling (6,950 ft. / 80 kms / 3 hrs ). Darjeeling's name derives from a monastery called “dorje†ling which was built by the local tribals denzongpas in 1765 on behalf of the chogyal of Sikkim. It is said that it was formerly a place of worship of the rongs where three stone stand erect (lung-chok) till today. "dorje" means thunderbolt and "ling" means place. Unfortunately the monastery was destroyed by the invading gurkha army in 1815. On arrival check-in to hotel & rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Darjeeling .
Day 6: Darjeeling local sight seen
Early morning (at 04:00 am) drive to Tiger hill (8,400 ft.) to watch the spectacular sunrise over Mt. Khangchendzongha (28,208 ft. worlds’ 3rd highest peak), on your way back visit Ghoom monastery and Batasia loop. After breakfast visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, P.N. Zoological park (Thursday closed), Tenzing rock, Tibetan refugee self-help centre (Sunday closed), Tea garden (outer view), Japanese temple & Peace pagoda. Evening free for shopping or leisure. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.
Day 7: Darjeeling – NJP Rly Station / IXB-Bagdogra (80 Kms / 3 Hrs)
After breakfast check-out from hotel and take the departure transfer to NJP railway station / IXB-Bagdogra Airport for your onward journey.
