Monastery and Palace together
This seems to be two sites in one,, There's the monastery itself where we saw the young monks outside playing football and at the other end of the site closed off to tourists is the Royal Palace area,..

Oasis!
This serene monastery is in the heart of Gangtok, quietly hidden. One can just sit here and soak in the aura as young monks run around for their classes and sports. A top favourite of mine.

When I came, there was puja in the monastery. I sat & meditated for 30 minutes. A lovely experience. Highly recommended
