Start this day by exploring the historical past of Jaipur through its most prominent monument, the Amber Fort. This fort, also known as Amer Palace is an architectural wonder comprising of several buildings and structures that once used to be the humble abode of the several generations of the Rajputana clan. The City Palace is an amalgamation of courtyards, gardens and structures that present a striking blend of the Rajasthani and Mughal styles of architecture. The buildings inside this complex denote different eras of royalty, some even dating back to the earlier parts of the 20th century. Right opposite this structure is situated the Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO World Heritage site that houses the world?s largest stone sundial. Hawa Mahal, located at a walking distance from Jantar Mantar is an extraordinary pink sandstone building. There is a palace museum that has on display a rich collection of imperial dresses and artefacts; all these ornate materials belong to the royal family of Jaisalmer. When you are done absorbing the beauty of this place, move towards the quaint and picturesque Patwaon ki Haveli, one of the most elaborately carved structures in Jaisalmer. Nestled cosily in a narrow street, it has five storeys that exhibits magnificent mirror-work art and a few paintings. After this, visit the quaint and peaceful Gadisar Lake. This water body is a man-made reservoir that was constructed by Maharawal Gadsi Singh in the 14th century to solve the water scarcity problems in the arid land of Jaisalmer. The availability of water here attracted the construction of many small temples and shrines nearby, making it a popular tourist spot. In the evening, visit the Sam sand dunes located about 41 Kms west of Jaisalmer. These sand dunes are one of the most popular excursions from this beautiful city. You could enjoy a camel ride/camel cart ride to the Sunset Point and the Sam Sand Dunes (direct payment basis), while the sun slowly sets below the horizon in the background. Day 6: Jodhpur
