Chamunda Mata Temple, situated in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India, is nestled within the mighty Mehrangarh Fort, perched atop a hill at an altitude of 400 feet above the city. This temple is dedicated to Chamunda Mataji – the goddess of war and patron deity of the former royal family of Jodhpur. It was established in 1460 by Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur, when he brought the idol from the old capital of Mandore in 1460, and installed it in Mehrangarh Fort. The goddess is revered by locals and held in great esteem. Pilgrims and tourists flock to the temple, especially during the Dussehra festival when the goddess is worshipped with great pomp and fervor. The temple offers a spiritual retreat and provides panoramic views of the blue-hued city below. The architectural style of the temple reflects the traditional Rajasthani design, with intricate carvings and stonework that are typical of the region.
