Umaid Bhawan Palace is a magnificent piece of Rajasthan's heritage and a symbol of new Jodhpur. Located on Chittar Hill, the highest point in Jodhpur, the palace was completed in 1943 and named after Maharaja Umaid Singh. The grand yellow sandstone monument set amidst 26 acres of lush gardens offers a stunning blend of Eastern and Western architectural styles, including Art Deco influences inside. It was designed by the renowned Edwardian architect Henry Lanchester and is a marvel to behold. The palace is divided into three sections: a luxury Taj Palace Hotel, the residence of the former royal family, and a museum focusing on the 20th-century history of the Jodhpur Royal Family. The museum displays an exquisite collection of vintage cars, clocks, and photographs of the royal family.
