Ghanta Ghar, also known as the Clock Tower of Rajasthan, is a prominent landmark in the old city of Jodhpur, India. It stands adjacent to the vibrant Sardar Market, named after Maharaja Sardar Singh of Jodhpur. This historical tower provides a panoramic view of the city. Constructed by Maharaja Sardar Singh during his tenure between 1880 and 1911, the clock tower is a magnificent example of colonial architectural influence in India. Ghanta Ghar was built as a tribute to his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, and has since become a symbol of the city. The clock tower itself is a tall, imposing structure with a clock that has been ticking away for over a century. The area around Ghanta Ghar is bustling with activity, from local vendors selling spices, textiles, silver, and handicrafts, to tourists and locals haggling for the best prices. The market is a blend of colors, aromas, and sounds, reflective of the vibrant Rajasthani culture.
